The musings of SandK's mom:-)

I have thus survived my first year of homeschool!!!! Yes, I know it's already the start of the second school year - BUT, yesterday marked the day that SusieQ officially finished 4th grade. WOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!! We survived 4th grade. She actually *learned* something. And we didn't kill each other! I count that as a rousing success:-).
In all seriousness, a year later, I have *no* doubts that the decision we made to pull her out of school-building school after 4 years was the right one. It has NOT been easy, I'm not gonna lie about that. We've had many a conflict. I had my own struggles to deal with early on. But the goals that we had for this year have been met - she is caught up in math (after 4 years of never getting beyond counting on her fingers to do simple addition and subtraction...my baby is multiplying with the best of them!) and her social skills and self confidence have improved tremendously. Does she still have some issues to work on? Yes, but truth is, she's her momma's girl - she might *always* have issues to work on:-) However, I'm no longer terrified at the thought of her returning to school-building school someday - I think she'll be ready to hold her own and be successful. I'm just thrilled that she has moved forward this year in so many ways - Thanks only to God, cuz I think it was in *spite* of me sometimes LOL!
